About Sheila Singh

My journey has not been a linear one. I started my academic and working life as an engineer, but after several years I realized that I didn’t feel aligned in that path and purpose. Seeking calm and balance, I found my way to yoga and meditation — traditions that slowly encouraged the beginning of introspection and healing.

For over 20 years, I practiced and taught yoga and meditation, and grew to appreciate how much of our unspoken experiences live in the body. I became fascinated by how our nervous systems have been shaped by life, our family systems, and the world around us. This curiosity led me to train in Somatic Experiencing®, where I have continued learning about the body’s natural capacity to heal, and the ways in which this healing can be inhibited. Eventually I wanted to expand the scope with which I could sit with people, and this brought me back to graduate school for clinical mental health counseling.

While my path has been a meandering one, each turn has brought me closer to the work that feels most aligned: being a therapist and supporting others in their journey.

As a first-generation South Asian (Indian) American, I understand the path of discovering your sense of identity and belonging while navigating varied cultural and family system experiences and expectations. This informs how I hold space for clients — with deep respect for the complexity of who you are, the context of your life, and all the ways you’ve learned to navigate it.

Outside of these roles, motherhood has been my greatest joy. In my downtime, I love running along Lady Bird Lake, finding renewal in quiet moments, and enjoying a good cup of coffee and conversation with friends and family.

I’m grateful for the path that has brought me here and for the many mentors and teachers who have supported me along the way. They helped me to remember that even in painful or overwhelming seasons of life, there is an intact sense of wholeness and vitality within each of us.

If my story resonates with you, I’d be honored to walk alongside you in yours. To find out more about what it feels like to be in the therapy room with me, please explore more about my approach.
