An iRest Yoga Nidra Rest-Shop

The new year is a beautiful time to slow down, restore and rest in the depths of one’s heart. In this rest-shop at Dharma Yoga Austin, I will offer a gentle practice, including breathing, gentle embodied movements and iRest Yoga Nidra. We will close by planting seeds of inquiry so that when the answers appear, we may hear – what (way of Being) is most calling us into the year that can guide how we show up for ourselves and others, and where we engage.

Their will be no agenda, other than for this to be a safe space for you to meet the truth and wisdom within you.

No experience required, simply your curiosity.
January 26th 4-6pm

Coming Home to Ourselves, A Meditation Experience

Have you ever had the feeling of being at Home in yourself? How did it feel in your body? What else became available in those moments? What did you come to know as true?

Perhaps it was in a moment where circumstances or conditions were not necessarily perfect.  It might even have felt a little messy, yet at the same time you experienced the ease or the peacefulness of Being at home in your humanity.  The messy parts were not denied. The ‘put together’ parts were not held close. It was all just allowed to Be.

This ground of Being can feel natural and familiar, almost like we have always known how to Be.  We have just forgotten. The felt sense of Being can reveal an underlying stillness, spaciousness and silence.  This unchanging ground gently embraces the depths of our changing humanity.

How do we get there?  Well, perhaps there is no where to get.  It is already here, and what is needed is pause and rest. The portal is the field of the body itself.

What do we do when we are there?  Once we are oriented, there is nothing to do.  We can Be, feel and sense what already is.

On April 21st I’ll be offering a meditation event at Yoga Yoga North.  While words can convey understanding, ultimately the jewel is known in experience itself.  With this in mind, I will orient briefly to practices and then guide you toward your direct experience and the wisdom within.

Our time will include gentle and enlivening pranayama and movement.  There will be periods of pause, and quiet sitting or reclining. I will lead you through a longer guided iRest® yoga nidra meditation, and we will also explore the ground of Being through walking meditation.  Our time will close with inquiry, journaling, and sharing as it feels appropriate to you. This will be open to all levels. There are no barriers to Being. All that is needed is the curiosity to explore.

New Opportunities for In Depth Studies in Meditation @ Yoga Yoga

I will be offering two opportunities this spring to dive deep into the practice of meditation.  These traditions have been the heart and center of my personal practice and one that I feel so grateful to share with you.  Meditation has given me a strong anchor through the fluctuations of daily life.  The passing moments do not always looks clean and pretty, however, I feel a more distinct quality of presence and ease through it and greater sense of what is really meaningful today.

I will be offering Getting to the Heart of Meditation beginning April 13th for five weeks at Yoga Yoga Westlake.  We will dive deep into the four qualities of heart, discovering where they are within reach and where they are not, and exploring how to hold a kind space for ourselves in both circumstances.

I will also be offering a new round of Mindfulness Meditation Series beginning April 10th for six weeks at Yoga Yoga North.  We will explore both the method and wisdoms offered through this practice, and begin the journey inward toward self-understanding, clarity and freedom.

I looking forward to sharing my evolving experience and understanding of these traditions with you.

With gratitude,

New Series: Getting to the Heart of Meditation at Yoga Yoga

I am excited to be offering a new series class at Yoga Yoga beginning in January.  We will explore Buddhist inspired meditations of the heart over the course of five weeks, gently cultivating our own unconditional capacity for ease and compassion.  I hope you will join me.  Below is both the description and the link to register.

Getting to the Heart of Meditation: Cultivating the Four Sublime States

5 weeks, Fridays at noon, Yoga Yoga North: 1/9, 1/16, 1/23, 1/30, 2/6

Meditation is not perfecting a state of mind, but, rather, a gentle uncovering of our own capacity for love and compassion. In this five week series we will explore Buddhist inspired meditations to awaken our hearts and cultivate the four sublime states: loving kindness, appreciative joy, compassion and equanimity. Each class will include a talk, guided heart meditation with time for quiet sitting and opportunity to reflect and share.

“Meditation becomes a constant inquiry of where there’s not love. We’re just seeing where we are dividing within ourself, separating. When we heal that, there is only love.” ~ Richard Miller

**Previous experience is not required, however, this can be a wonderful follow on if you have taken the Mindfulness Meditation Series. Both new and experienced practitioners are welcome.

New Series: iRest Yoga Nidra at Castle Hill Fitness

I am excited to be offering a four part series at Castle Hill Fitness on iRest Yoga Nidra.  iRest (Integrative Restoration) Yoga Nidra is a tool and practice for deep relaxation and restoration, paired with a quality of presence that is profoundly healing.

Below is the description of the series and the link to Castle Hill’s website where you can sign up online.

It is easy to feel depleted and scattered in the midst of busy schedules, with wellness unintentionally taking a back seat to productivity. Integrative Restoration (iRest) Yoga Nidra is a wonderful toolset and practice for today’s fast-paced life that offers restoration, integration and deep relaxation to its practitioners. Through iRest Yoga Nidra you will discover the tools to bring both well-being and intention into the forefront of daily living. Over the course of four weekends, we will explore the layers of physical, emotional and subtle energy body with increasing refinement. Each class will begin with a short discussion on iRest and its applicability and benefit to daily life. Discussion will lead into a gentle hatha practice and each session will close with a longer guided iRest Yoga Nidra practice.

Prior iRest or relaxation experience is not required. Come ready to rest and relax!
