His eyes.

Gazing into his sweet, brown eyes and words feel unnecessary.  I have known him for more than half of my life, yet vulnerability arises as if we are meeting for the first time.

I see Captain as a young, carefree boy.  These same eyes, just decades earlier.  The eyes of an older brother who experienced loss.  The eyes of a young man beginning a new adventure as a freshman in college.  The eyes of the one I came to know, love and marry.  The eyes of the father to my girls.  The eyes of a beautiful forty-three year old man who is all the above and so much more.

Happy Father’s Day Captain.  You have my heart.
