The Level II Purge

We recently moved between homes in Austin and I used the move as the perfect opportunity to purge and lighten my load.   Honestly, I thought I had done a pretty good job of purging prior to the packing and moving, but as I am unpacking, I am finding that I am in the process of another purge.  I am calling it the Level II purge now. 🙂  As much as I love the idea of carrying less and living lightly, I find that I still have the inclination to hold onto things.

It’s human to want to hold on.  If I let go, I am afraid I will lose the memories that are carried along with them – that somehow I will forget.  But the more I carry, the less light I feel and the less space I give myself for new beginnings.  My past has already molded who I am today.  In order to journey more spaciously into the present, I need the confidence to let go and to know that letting go doesn’t mean loss.  It may just mean space for something beautiful and new in its place.

When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be. – Lao Tzu
