Free Fallin’

Stop.  Before reading if you have a copy of John Mayer’s acoustic version of Free Fallin’, I recommend playing it first for some added inspiration.  Now onto reading… 🙂

So lately I have been really inspired by my practice.  My practice of allowing myself to venture into what is unknown, into creation and possibility, almost with this sense of free falling.  Being so free that I can allow my breath and it’s energy to guide me – for it to be what moves me.  And this place brings me to that edge where I am able to meet myself more honestly.  It offers me moments where I find my courage, and moments where my fears and uncertainty completely stifle me.  But that is living.  Meeting ourselves as we are moment to moment, not hiding from it, not running away, trying our best to not judge it, but to just be, to breathe through it and to live life in all of its splendor and all of its hardship.

Amazingly you can find these subtleties on your yoga mat.  A mat that is sometimes looked to for delving into one’s physical nature, carries us beautifully into something much more intimate – the nature of our hearts and minds.   The more you allow yourself to explore all aspects of who it is you are on your mat – the more you will find the courage to do the same in your life;  in life where sometimes momentum carries us, rather than breath or inspiration;  in life where sometimes inertia stops us for fear of what may come.  Find your courage, your inspiration, your potential on the mat; find it through the breath.  Allow it to bring you fearlessly into this present moment and then carry it forward into your day, into life where, really, anything is possible.

“Come to the edge.”
“We can’t. We’re afraid.”
“Come to the edge.”
“We can’t. We will fall!”
“Come to the edge.”
And they came.
And he pushed them.
And they flew.
