Happy, Healthy Eating

Talk about carrying your yoga off the mat… well, I have been doing that and taking it right into my cooking.  I have become more aware of my body/mind, and this awareness has pretty naturally carried over into how I cook and how I eat.  Let it be known that I have a strong sweet tooth and indulge in the occasional (or more than occasional) bag of cheetos, but I also have a strong desire to eat in a more wholesome and healthful way.  To know more intimately what I put in my body.  To know that is made with love and even a sense of inspiration, and to be able to share that with my family, my friends, really anyone who wants to partake in it.  I am not a fancy cook, but recently I have been using more fresh and local, less processed ingredients.  I feel good eating what I know is more wholesome even if it doesn’t taste as good as that slice of Home Slice :).   I feel good knowing what I put on the dinner table will help to nourish my family, and hopefully that nourishment will carry forward in some way.  It is not just eating more healthfully, but I am actually enjoying the process of cooking, of picking the ingredients and coming up with ideas for the dinner table.   I am not one who likes to open up cook books.   It’s a much more organic process, which might not always produce the tastiest concoctions, but it allows me to be more inspired to create.   My yoga continues to inform my life in ways I wouldn’t have imagined.  Awareness is not just on the mat.  It’s in life.  It’s in the grocery aisle.  It’s in the kitchen, on the dinner table – in what you eat, how you eat and how you choose to live.   Happy, healthful eating to all.  🙂

    Perfect post! Love the segue from yoga to cooking and the relationship between the two! Like the line about it being a much more organic process. Looking forward to eating or cooking with you again soon!
