Staying True to my Heart

Yoga for me is very multi-faceted.  Part of my journey is to discover who I am in each moment without the baggage of what I may be expected to be and without the fear of judgement or criticism – not an easy task I know.  It is a process of cultivating this deep self understanding and to find the freedom and the creative expression to compassionately step into my power.  And by power I don’t mean the power of my mind or body, but rather stepping into the expanse of power within my heart.  The power that allows us to let go, to forgive, to embody compassion, and to express ourselves consciously and in the spirit of love.

This journey is often not the most comfortable or the most easy because it requires you take yourself to your edge, to really inquire with great honesty your motivations, your desires, your heart.  But ultimately to begin to know who I am and to find the courage to be that has been the most liberating experience for me yet and hopefully will continue to be.  And though this process allows me to be the individual I am, the journey more than anything allows me to know that we are all much more connected than separate; connected through our fears, our vulnerabilities, our courage and through the essence of our human spirit.

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

So well written. “find yourself” “be true to yourself”..it all starts to sound so trite but in the end its so much harder than it sounds, and you’ve expressed it so well (and are so much further than most of us…)
